Ysgol y Graig - Llangefni

|
Size and Timescale
We were involved at a very early stage of the design of this 2000m2 school in Anglesey. Including this, our total lead time was 6 1/2 months. The frame was erected in 14 weeks.
Thermal Efficiency
This school was built to be a 'green' school and as well as the very low U-values achieved by the timber frame it also featured a sedum roof, photovoltaic roof tiles and a wind turbine.
Successful Project
By working closely with the Architects throughout the design stages of the school we were able to take full advantage of the timber frame construction. The design featured an engineered roof comprising of both Glulam and I-joists as well as over height panels. These created the large internal spaces and distinctive roof line. Ysgol-y-Graig has won the CLAW (Consortium of Local Authorities in Wales) Sustainability Award 2009.

Size and Timescale
This school contains 4 classrooms and has a total floor area of 850m2.
Thermal Efficiency
Thermal efficiency was very important in this project. As a result the U-values and air-tightness in this build were designed to be as low as possible and substantially improve on building regulations.
Successful Project
A large primary school set in Powys, Wales. This project linked together Glulam beams and open panel construction. This shows the flexibility and design of Frame Wise Ltd

|
Size and Timescale
This 795m2 single storey nursery was erected over a period of around 4-6 weeks
Thermal Efficiency
By using timber frame this project easily improved on the required value for building regulations.
Successful Project
This school was designed to respect its parkland environment with minimal ecological impact; its cedar cladding helps it blend into the background. Timber frame was chosen for this project as the low carbon cost fitted this ideal.
